TOUR: Thrilling Penang Tour (Half-Day by SUV)
Worth every penny! We’re on a very tight schedule in Penang and this was the best way to cover the major highlights in a short amount of time. Lawrence was very knowledgeable and flexible to accommodate our requests. Car was clean and comfortable as well. I highly recommend him for the first timer. He certainly made our trip memorable.
TOUR GUIDE RESPONSE:
Thank you very much for your review; it truly means a great deal to me. One day, when I am retired, I imagine myself sitting in a rocking chair, pampering Hushy, and watching the sunset. As the evening light fades, I will slowly read through every review and relive all those sweet memories.

Penang 3D Trick Art Museum, Penang, Malaysia
The Penang 3D Trick Art Museum is one of the most entertaining and interactive attractions in George Town, Penang. Located along Lebuh Penang within the historic UNESCO World Heritage zone, the museum offers visitors a unique blend of art, photography, and optical illusion. Unlike traditional museums where visitors simply observe exhibits, this museum invites guests to become part of the artwork itself, creating memorable photos and playful experiences.
The museum specialises in “trick art,” a technique that transforms flat two-dimensional paintings into images that appear three-dimensional when viewed from specific angles. Murals painted on the walls, floors, and ceilings create illusions that seem to pop out toward the viewer, making them look realistic in photographs. This style of art encourages visitors to interact with the scenes by posing creatively, making them appear as if they are flying on a magic carpet, escaping wild animals, or performing impossible stunts.
Inside the museum, more than 40 hand-painted murals and optical-illusion artworks are displayed across two levels of a restored heritage building. These artworks are divided into different thematic zones, including “All About Penang Life” and “Modern Classic.” The Penang-themed section introduces elements of the island’s culture and history through scenes such as traditional trishaws, clan jetties, and local street life. Meanwhile, the modern and fantasy sections present imaginative settings featuring giant animals, adventurous landscapes, and playful visual illusions.
One of the highlights of visiting the museum is the highly interactive experience it provides. Staff members are usually available to guide visitors on how to pose correctly so that the illusion appears convincing in photographs. Because the artwork is designed to be photographed, visitors are encouraged to use cameras or smartphones to capture creative and humorous images throughout the exhibition.
Since its opening in 2013, the museum has become a popular attraction for tourists, families, and photography enthusiasts visiting Penang. Combining artistic creativity with entertainment, the Penang 3D Trick Art Museum offers a fun and imaginative environment where visitors can step inside the world of illusion and turn ordinary photographs into extraordinary visual stories.
