Darren and Lynnda from Australia Visited Malaysia for 10 Days

Aug 13, 2024 - Penang

We started our Malaysian journey with a trishaw ride through George Town, admiring the UNESCO World Heritage Site's pre-WWII architecture. The famous “Children on Bicycle” mural on Art Street was highlighted, followed by a fascinating visit to Chew Jetty, a waterfront village of stilt houses. The afternoon was filled with panoramic views from Penang Hill and a visit to Kek Lok Si Temple with its impressive Kuan Im statue.

Aug 14, 2024 - Penang to Ipoh

Our Penang exploration continued with a visit to the Khoo Kongsi clan house and Entopia’s butterfly sanctuary. After a delicious lunch at Kak Ayu's Quallys Syok Segarnya Restaurant, we journeyed to Ipoh. We explored the Perak Tong Cave Temple and wandered through the vibrant Concubine Lane. We then checked into the Travel Lodge Hotel.

Aug 15, 2024 - Ipoh to Cameron Highlands

We started with an adventure in Gua Tempurung Cave before heading to the cool highlands of Cameron. The local market at Kea Farm, Flora Park, and Cactus Point offered charming local experiences. We checked into the Heritage Hotel and enjoyed the refreshing highland air.

Aug 16, 2024 - Cameron Highlands to Putrajaya

Our Cameron Highlands tour included the mystical Mossy Forest, Gunung Brinchang’s peak, and a visit to a strawberry farm. Lunch was at Bharat Tea Plantation near Tanah Rata. In the afternoon, we made our way to Putrajaya and checked into the Zenith Putrajaya Hotel.

Aug 17, 2024 - Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur

After a morning of ParkRun, we explored Putrajaya’s landmarks including the Putra Mosque and the Prime Minister's Office. We then travelled to Kuala Lumpur for breathtaking views from the KL Tower, a buggy ride at the Perdana Botanical Garden, and visits to Central Market, and the Petronas Twin Towers. Our day ended with a drive to Kuala Selangor and check-in at 101 SkyMirror Homestay.

Aug 18, 2024 - Kuala Selangor and Kepong

The day started with the stunning Sky Mirror tour and a leisurely walk at Melawati Hill to see Silvered-Leaf Monkeys. We visited Skyline Luge and enjoyed the Forest Skywalk in Kepong before checking into AMI Suites in Mont Kiara.

Aug 19, 2024 - Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Gandah

We began at Chow Kit Market and then visited Aquaria KLCC. In Kuala Lumpur, we stayed at AMI Suites.

Aug 20, 2024 - Genting Highlands and Malacca

Our journey took us to Batu Caves and the Chin Swee Temple, offering stunning rainforest views. We had free time at Genting Highlands for shopping before heading to Malacca. Dinner and check-in at the Swiss Garden Hotel concluded our day.

Aug 21, 2024 - Malacca

In Malacca, we visited a traditional Malay house, cruised the Malacca River, and explored the Dutch Square and historical sites like Christ Church and St. Paul’s Hill. We enjoyed local delicacies and strolled Jonker Walk before heading to the Sepang area to check into BRIX KLIA by Pinetree.

Aug 22, 2024 - Departure

We wrapped up our trip with a final morning at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, departing on AirAsia D7212 to Melbourne, filled with unforgettable memories from our Malaysian adventure.

George Town, Penang

Art Street: This vibrant street is known for its stunning murals and street art, including the famous “Children on Bicycle” mural by Ernest Zacharevic. This artwork has become an iconic symbol of George Town and captures the charm and creativity of the city's street art scene.

Chew Jetty: A waterfront settlement in George Town, Chew Jetty consists of traditional Chinese wooden houses built on stilts over the water. It offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the early Chinese immigrants who settled in Penang. The jetty is a lively area with small shops and food stalls, making it a great spot to explore and experience local culture.

Penang Hill: Reached via a funicular train, Penang Hill offers panoramic views of Penang Island and the mainland. The hill features a lush tropical rainforest with suspension bridges and a 360-degree tree-top platform at The Habitat, providing breathtaking views and a unique perspective on the natural beauty of the region.

Kek Lok Si Temple: This sprawling Buddhist temple is one of the largest and most significant in Malaysia. It is renowned for its Tortoise Liberation Pond, where devotees release tortoises as an act of merit, and the 30-meter-tall Kuan Im statue, which overlooks the temple complex and offers a serene ambience.

Cameron Highlands

Mossy Forest: The Mossy Forest is a mystical, high-altitude forest with an otherworldly atmosphere. It’s known for its thick fog, ancient trees draped in moss, and unique flora. A short boardwalk allows visitors to explore this enchanting environment and enjoy the cool, fresh air.

Strawberry Farm: Cameron Highlands is famous for its strawberry farms. Visitors can pick their strawberries, enjoy the lush green fields, and taste fresh, juicy strawberries straight from the farm. It’s a delightful experience that combines agriculture with scenic beauty.

Flora Park: This beautifully landscaped garden showcases a diverse array of flowers and plants, including vibrant blooms and intricate floral arrangements. It’s a serene spot to relax and appreciate the horticultural beauty of the highlands.

Putrajaya

Putra Mosque: Known for its striking pink dome and intricate architectural details, Putra Mosque is a prominent landmark in Putrajaya. Its location beside Putrajaya Lake enhances its stunning visual impact, and the mosque’s serene environment provides a peaceful retreat.

Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC): This impressive building is notable for its futuristic design and panoramic views of Putrajaya. It’s a hub for international conferences and events and is an architectural marvel that adds to the city’s modern landscape.

Kuala Lumpur

KL Tower (Menara Kuala Lumpur): Standing tall in the city’s skyline, KL Tower offers an observation deck with panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur. The ARAS Restaurant provides a buffet lunch with a view, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the cityscape while dining.

Petronas Twin Towers: The iconic twin towers are a symbol of Kuala Lumpur’s modernity and architectural prowess. While we only explored the exterior, the towers’ sleek design and their status as one of the tallest buildings in the world are impressive and iconic.

Batu Caves: A significant Hindu pilgrimage site, Batu Caves is renowned for its massive golden statue of Lord Murugan and the series of limestone caves that house Hindu shrines. The site is set against a dramatic limestone hill, creating a visually striking and spiritually meaningful experience.

Malacca

Jonker Walk: This bustling street in Malacca’s Chinatown is known for its vibrant night market, historical buildings, and an array of local food stalls and shops. It’s a lively area where visitors can enjoy traditional snacks, shop for souvenirs, and soak in the local atmosphere.

Dutch Square: Known for its distinctive red buildings, including Christ Church and the Stadhuys, Dutch Square is a historical area reflecting Malacca’s colonial past. The square is a popular spot for tourists to explore historical architecture and learn about the city’s rich heritage.

A Famosa: The remains of this Portuguese fort, including the iconic Porta de Santiago, are one of the oldest surviving European structures in Asia. It stands as a historical landmark and a testament to Malacca’s colonial history.
